‘Tis the season for holiday parties! If you are hosting one, have I got the best appetizer for you! You can prep these Bacon-Wrapped Dates ahead of time (even the day before) and pop them in your oven when it’s almost time to party! If you are coming over from Whitney’s blog , with drink in hand, for the Blended Blog’s Second Progressive Dinner, welcome! Come on in and grab a napkin! These little salty/sweet apps are addictive! If you are a regular reader then you may just want to hop on over for the full dinner!
The first time I made these appetizers was for a Wine and Cheese Party two years ago. They were quite a hit and I have made them multiple times since then. I got the recipe from one of my favorite books ever, Bread and Wine by Shauna Niequist. (If you follow the affiliate link, I will make a small commission at no cost to you!)
A delicious appetizer that only has three ingredients? How can you pass on that? Plus it has the perfect combination of sweet/salty and soft/crunchy. And did I mention BACON??
Bacon-Wrapped Dates {an appetizer}
Ingredients
- 1 8-oz package of dates
- 4 oz goat cheese roll
- 1 16 oz package of bacon
Procedure
If the dates are not already pitted, cut a slice along one side and lift out the long seed.
Fill with a small scoop of goat cheese.
Wrap with a half slice of bacon. Arrange with seam side down on a foil lined baking sheet (to facilitate clean up).
Bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes. You want the bacon to be well cooked. I like crispy bacon! You can serve these warm or at room temperature.
Now don’t fill up on too many of these! You’ll want to head on over to Deena’s house where she will be sharing a Canadian holiday specialty!
Before you go be sure to pin the image so you’ll find this yummy recipe again!
YUM!!!! I have always wanted to make these, now I have the perfect recipe!!! Saving this one and drooling over that bacon crisp outside around that succulent date and goat cheese!!! Fabulous!!
Oh they are good! Are a bunch last night for dessert! (They went in while we ate!)
I need to make these. Also adding to my holiday menu- thanks for sharing!
Bien sûr!
Can I come to your house when you make these 🙂
Me too?
I’ve made these before and I absolutely adore them! I haven’t made them in a few years but now I’m thinking I need a reason to…or not, I’ll just make them and eat them myself!
We did that last night Whitney!
Anything with bacon is a hit at my house!
Right? Love me some bacon!
My husband loves dates – so this would be a perfect appetizer at our house.

I didn’t like dates until I went to a friend’s house. They were on the cheese board. Love! Now I look for ways to use them! And figs too!
Such a combination of tasty ingredients and textures. I want to try these. PC is on board for anything with bacon or cheese, to have them both in one appetizer would be the next best thing to heaven. Really pretty graphics, Sheila. Love the spring of green (rosemary?).
Yes! Good eye! Rosemary looks a little like pine so I added that for a little touch of Christmas!
I need these like right now! Should be called Goat Cheese Surprise!
That’s a fun name for them!
Wow those look yummy and I am a huge fan of all 3 indigents! Adding to my must try list….
So easy you can make them as a test any ol weeknight! (That’s what we did last night!)
These are so easy I need to give them a try. YUM!
So easy and so very tasty! A perfect combo of salty and sweet!
