Christmas decorating

I like to start decorating for Christmas right after Thanksgiving but not a day before. It takes me a few days (err….weeks?!) to get it all done. Sometimes the tree has lights on it and nothing else for DAYS. That’s where I currently am right now. My friend, Kellea, asked on facebook who had started decorating for Christmas. I posted a few pix on her post. I thought I’d share a few with you as well.

My daughter is really, REALLY into celebrating Christmas this year. We went so far as to make a Christmas bucket list which I’ll be sharing with you on the Blended Blog. As part of her enthusiasm, she wanted to decorate her room with a little tree of her own. We picked up this little white tree at Target, along with the miniature red balls. She found some other mini ornaments in our stash and added a red bow and some gauzey material for a skirt. It reminds me of Sand & Sisal’s glam tree for her daughters’ room! Maybe we need to add some curly ribbon like she did. It seems to need something else…

My front door received a basket full of greens. I love to decorate with fresh greens because they smell so good! And they’re free! This basket was inspired by the class Kim taught at Ballard Design. As I was removing the basket from it’s place on the dining room wall to hang up our advent calendar, I remembered the Ballard Design basket (below) and thought that mine would work in the same way! I like the way it turned out!

I tried my hand at creating my own garland which was also inspired by the class I took at Ballard Designs. I still need to add ribbon but I haven’t made it to the craft store yet. I like the way it came out. I’ll do a separate post on how I created it.

I mixed pine boughs with magnolia leaves. Hmm, maybe I can add some pinecones as well. This is the inspiration shot:

That’s it for now! How’s your Christmas decorating coming?

  1. So pretty! I love everything you’ve done so far. We also wait to decorate until the weekend after Thanksgiving – but I like to get it all done at once! I’m pretty much done except for a few tweaks here and there.
