Day 13: Skinny jeans + chambray shirt {Write 31 Days}

I know people who wouldn’t wear denim on denim. Personally, I love the look of a chambray shirt with just about anything! Chambray was in a loooooong time ago and then it went out of style. I’m glad that it is back again. I think the key to wearing denim and chambray is having different colors of denim. That’s why I like my Old Navy chambray. It’s lighter in color than most of my jeans (except for my boyfriend jeans) and it’s slightly fitted so it doesn’t feel like I’m wearing my husband’s shirt. (Old Navy does have a boyfriend one that is more roomy if you prefer a more unstructured look.)

You can wear the chambray by itself. I wore it with leopard flats. You could easily add booties, riding boots or even cowboy boots. Or you could wear it with something a little more bold like a pattern or bright colors. I think it would be adorable with plaid flats! I also added a little bit of pearls to make it more feminine. chambray

If it’s a bit cooler you can add a military vest. I love this vest! Or try a quilted vest.chambray and vest

If you need a bit more warmth, and want your arms covered, you can add a denim jacket on top. Yes, three layers of denim! Or if you have a field jacket, that would work well too.

    1. Alas, I no longer have a denim skirt. I had one I loved but then lost weight and it got passed on (not that I’m complaining!) I tried thrifting two but they ended up being a little…ahem…short. My legs are no longer what they were and I don’t need to be showing off that much of them! I’ll look for one in a more modest, but not homeschool marm, length! lol!

  1. LOVE the triple denim look! I’ll be wearing my new chambray shirt with dark denim jeans for our family portraits this weekend.
