My daughter, Annie, and I are waiting to board our flight for San Pedro Sula, the second largest city in Honduras.
We will not, however, head to the tourist island of Roatán to dive the reef. Rather, we will head into the mountains to the village of El Venado to visit La Esperanza de Jesus (the Hope of Jesus children’s home) started by our friends Mike and Kim Miller 9 years ago.
I visited for the first time four years ago when I brought my son. Michael visited with our other son two years ago and now it’s Annie’s turn. Last time, our team built a chicken coup so the children could have fresh eggs and we helped lay the floor of the dining hall. I’m eager to see the changes that have transpired since my last visit and to see how big the kids have grown.
I will not be able to post pictures of the children but I will try to give a tour of the grounds for my friends who have been and also want to see the changes it for those who have never been.
Also I wanted to give a shout out to my friend Leslie from Once Upon a Time and Happily Ever After for helping make this trip possible. Thanks Leslie!!
Hasta a luego!
