Six Things I’m Savoring

My friend, Michael Ann, blogged about six things she was savoring and asked her readers what they were savoring. It got me thinking so I decided to share my answer with my readers.

  1. Podcasts.  I have rediscovered podcasts since trying out Modern Mrs. Darcy’s new podcast, What Should I Read Next. I loved hers and binge-listened to all six episodes. While listening to Anne’s interview with Jacey, I discovered another one – Around the Table – and I’ve been listening to these two gals, Jacey and Maggie, while I cook, wash dishes, do laundry, drive around town and even get ready in the morning. I identify a lot with them – they are runners, lovers of community and hospitality, and are Christian women – even though they are two decades younger than I.
  2. Goodreads. How did I not know about this app? Also through What Should I Read Next, I discovered Goodreads and this community centered around books. I now have quite the list of ToBeRead books.
  3. Audio Books. As a family we used to listen to many books on audio. Then I got out of the habit. Again through WSIRN, I am rediscovering that I can “read” books while doing other things. I have put 3 books on hold through my Overdrive app.
  4. A free day. My children are on a ski trip and I found myself with an unscheduled morning! It was a beautiful, albeit cold, day! I packed up the dog, my camera and a list of little free libraries to visit. I had so much fun (blog post coming soon) that Michael was sad to have missed it. Luckily there are LFL in St. Augustine so we are going on another adventure today!
  5. Being off Facebook. I knew that I spent too much time on Facebook and that I needed to give it up for Lent. I’m being so much more productive and am living in the NOW!
  6. Phantom of the Opera. For Christmas we gave my mother and Michael’s mother tickets to the Phantom. Last night we had a lovely dinner at the Blind Rabbit followed by the musical (not opera. ahem.). {Did you see us on Instagram?} Today I’ve been singing Masquerade all morning. It’s so fun to go to a Broadway show! What’s your favorite?
  7. (Bonus) Walks with friends. Since pulling my hamstring, I’ve had to walk rather than run. It looks like I’ll be walking the half marathon I signed up for but no matter. I’m still grateful that I can walk. Gotta count our blessings and one of mine is being able to move at all!

  1. Thanks for sharing what you’re savoring! I’m off now to explore some of the podcasts you mentioned and to further explore Goodreads. I’m looking forward to your post about the little libraries!
