New onions from old

I saw this pin on how to regrow onions from sprouted onions and since I had three sprouted onions that were just going to go in the compost bin, I thought I’d give it a try.

I followed the instructions of cutting away the outer layers in order to get to the sprouted center, making sure I kept some of the root ball intact, separating the individual onion sets. From 3 onions I was able to get 8 individual onions.

Edit
I also read somewhere that you can regrow onions from the root so I’m going to try that as well.

Since I just cleaned out one of my gardens this morning, it’s ready to receive my new plantlets!

I’m so curious to see if this little experiment works out!
